I love using props to tell lifestyle stories. It’s part of my creative background. Adding visual texture and credibility to a scene. I use to be an art director so bringing all the elements together is something thats second nature to me and what makes lifestyle photography more authentic and credible.
For Harrison Ovens, we sourced a number of interesting objects to bring outdoor cooking to life. My favourite sourced props included an old coal scuttle, for chilling a bottle of wine, some ceramic fish, waterproof matches and then a piece of poetry I wrote entitled The Fish and the Flame. As a lifestyle photographer I want something unique and personal for every shoot not something generic not something that could be seen in any lifestyle image.
